Romanticize your boudoir for Valentine’s Day

Looking to give your bedroom a romantic makeover this Valentine’s Day? Our cheeky tips will help you get your Marvin Gaye on. 😉

Get between the sheets

A set of deluxe sheets will not only make your bedroom feel more romantic and luxurious but they are also amazing to sleep in. Focus on; where the cotton is from, where it was woven and the thread count. Egyptian cotton is generally the highest quality available, with the Italians holding the trophy for weaving. A high thread count does not necessarily mean softer sheets and over 1000TC can be hard to maintain due to its thickness. Between 300 and 500TC is usually the sweet spot.

Coming up roses

A small posy of roses will add a romantic air to your bedroom, pick up some from your local supermarket. Short stemmed or small roses usually sell for between, $5 – $10 a bunch and are perfect for a small spherical vase. If you really want to go to town sprinkle the bed with rose petals.

Set the mood….lighting

A set of bedside lamps, (preferably dimmable) at either side of the bed will add some mood lighting to your bedroom. You can pick up some great value lamps at Target, KMART and Freedom Furniture. We are loving copper and metallics at the moment which will also add a touch of glam to the bedroom.

Just throw yourself at it

Add a luscious throw to the end of your bed to make it look and feel more enticing. Alpaca and Mongolian lamb’s wool is deliciously soft or try Sheridan, Adairs or Kas. West Elm has great faux fur throws.

More cushion for the pushin’

Some plump, bouncy cushions will complete the romantic atmosphere of the bed and enhance the overall look of the room too. Fabrics with rich textures and colors such as red or emerald velvet, look and feel very luxe.

Ignite the flame

A gorgeous scented candle will add to your mood lighting and give the bedroom a dreamy scent. Steer clear of fresh scents and go for a more sensual aroma like vanilla, sandalwood or rose. If you are not into scented candles try dotting a few tea lights around the room for instant romance.
